Welcome !
The Kings Heath Business Association (KHBA) exists to encourage networking and mutual support for traders of all sizes in the Kings Heath area, broadly either side of its High Street (also known as Alcester Road South).
KHBA has existed since 2001, now comprising just under 200 local business members.
It is distinct from the Kings Heath BID (Business Improvement District).
In 2006, the KHBA committee set up the successful Kings Heath Farmers’ Market. It currently takes place on Kings Heath Village Square (by the church with the spire, corner of Vicarage Road, where the 11 bus turns).
Our story
Kings Heath developed as the main route south from the burgeoning town of Birmingham toward Alcester and Stratford.
The Association was founded in 2000 to help prosper Kings Heath—a rare example of a bustling 19th century High Street. It is a fully independent and non-profit making organisation, recognised by HM Government (the Home Office and the Department of Trade & Industry), Birmingham City Council, and West Midlands Police.
KHBA has remained consistently active since, in the main thanks to the energy and commitment of a handful of key local individuals whose businesses were built in the vicinity and are passionate about keeping their local economy thriving.
It has strong collaboration with local non-profit organisations providing services to underpin neighbourhood cohesion, and with settings such as the prominent Village Square, which took shape over time at a key intersection on the High Street as a focal point for fairs, markets, and other creative activity.
Where we are
Most KHBA members come from businesses and professional practices within "The Kings Heath Business Area" (i.e. within a radius of up to 1-mile from the junction of Howard Road and Alcester Road South).
KHBA has played an important role in procuring well over £1M in National Government and Local Government grants for the area. These have been used to finance additional & highly specialised policing, crime-busting CCTV cameras, Christmas streetlights, and various environmental improvement projects of special interest to local businesses.
